It’s been a week since the new guidance and as expected a few cases within families have occurred. However, the staff and families have all been amazing. We have been through another outbreak but relieved that all positive tests were staff-related and thankfully as a result of effective teamwork we were able to ensure it was kept away from the home.

We reviewed the new guidance and have listened to what families say and decided that we would reduce restrictions in a cautious way that we hope will be both safe and the least restrictive.

We are still operating open visits of the conservatory and the front door visits as they have always been successful and popular with both residents and families.

By adopting these procedures, we are able to ensure that we know if a resident became symptomatic of Covid that their guests haven’t been through the home.

However, we hope to move forward in the near future, and we are planning a relative’s meeting next month in Ludlow.

This meeting will take place once keyworkers or myself have been in touch with all families to consider relatives and residents views on implementing an agreed strategy to move forward in the future.

We are pleased to announce that the first part of returning to normal will be the renovation of areas within the home, re-carpeting and decorating to get the home back to pre-covid standards. The proposed works have been scheduled with our regular contractors who up until now have had limited access to the building to carry out essential works and equipment safety testing

By June we hope to be back to pre-Covid conditions, but our greatest wish is that we get through the pandemic without losing one of our beloved residents.

Stay strong and as always and keep safe.
