As you will appreciate it’s been very busy within the home with staff on annual leave. We pride ourselves on offering continuity of care and having no agency which so far, we have been able to achieve even in the dilemma of a national shortage of social care staff.

We have been able to hold the activities in the home on a ask on the day, as this we find at present is working well. Some residents feel that the more flexible approach as to what activity they would like to do is better when seeing how they feel at the time. External activities such as Tom the singer still take place within the home and are booked in advance, this has been really uplifting for both residents and staff.

Visits within the home are working well, most families are calling to let us know when they will be visiting, this has worked well with the one visitor in the room, or more in the conservatory with face masks. This has meant that some normality has been felt within the home, but at the same time comes at a risk. We regret to inform you that 2 residents have tested positive for Covid and therefore in isolation for at least 5 days and until 2 negative tests are received.

This has meant that the home is deemed “in a lock down situation” and visits must be reduced to ONE allocated key visitor. This person doesn’t have to be family, they could be a friend. We have a list of the key visitors on file and one of the management team will email you individually to ensure that the person named is correct.

These allocated visits will be held in the conservatory as we feel this holds the least risk and a face mask will be required to prevent any spread of infection. Unfortunately, any planned visits away from the home will need to be postponed until the lock down has been lifted, this helps us to manage any possible spread.

Could you please forward this email onto other family members (as I send to one so that you can cascade to others, please) and friends that you feel may visit, as sadly they will be refused entry whilst the lock down is in place. You will all be emailed once we are free from Covid within the home.

Thank you once again for your co-operation and patience. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Vince.

Kindest Regards

Lindsay,
