Hello everyone,

It has been a few weeks since my last update, I have been very busy assessing new residents and I am pleased to say we will be up to full occupancy shortly having completed appropriate swab results and isolation periods.

I spoke with Shropshire Council recently and they confirmed that there had been no cases in the Shropshire area since March which was fantastic news.

However, I have since heard that there are some care homes in Shropshire that are getting the odd few cases, which is why we have to reflect on what we have been doing and evaluating if its working and appropriate.

I think you will all agree that everyone has been amazing residents, staff and families.

The only concern that I have at present is the news that there are cases of the Delta variant, which may put our residents at risk when visits take place away from the home.

Current guidance states that we can have named visitors visit the home for close contact (maximum of 2 people per visit), our residents are also able to go and visit the named visitor’s homes in either their garden or a well-ventilated room in their house.

However, I really need to emphasise that this does not mean pubs, coffee shops, or anywhere that there are other people (even if it’s an outdoor visit).

We have come so far and do not want to fall at these final hurdles, please be aware the virus is still about, and we just have to be vigilant for a little longer.

On a positive note, I have attached the (activities sheet) so that you are able to see what we have planned and gives you the opportunity to plan visits around the activities.

Finally, we have more great news, by informing you that we have taken on another member of staff named Jasmine who not only holds the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care but more importantly shares the home vision and values.

As ever if you have anything you would like to discuss please do not hesitate to contact myself or Vince.
